My Book

This song came about in the quiet evening hours after spending the day building fences. There's a magic that exists in those moments that's fueled by hard-earned sweat and transformed into creativity.
Day gone, so long, my legs are tire and my backs gone
There's more chores for the work horse
me and the lawn we've been at war
I'm spent spent like December rent
and i'd really like to know where the time went
Seems like I was just wishin' I was of age
Guess the wind turned a couple extra pages, in my book
Day gone, the nights long, my heads tired and my hearts gone
to her place, and her face
and my dreams, keep me awake
I blew the dance and maybe my last chance
Wish I woulda known a little bout romance
Seemed like a fairytale but never after
I'm lookin' at a brand new chapter, in my book
You gotta learn to read between the lines with me
Judging covers only got you skin deep
Gotta learn to love a mystery
Oh I bleed my story
Gotta learn to read between the lines with me
Judging covers only got you skin deep
Gotta learn to know where to look
Wont you open my book?
Day gone, welcome, new light on an old song
And its a toothache on a work day
When your boss quit but your check came
On a broken scale that somehow comes out even
And tips right when we need it
Seems like I lived a million days like this
Each with it's own little twist, in my book
You gotta learn to read between the lines with me
Judging covers only got you skin deep
Gotta learn to love a mystery
Oh I bleed my story
Gotta learn to read between the lines with me
Judging covers only got you skin deep
Gotta learn to know where to look
Wont you open my book?
